Sheltering at Sea

We hear the fog horn frequently and the water is alternatively flat and rough.  It is windy, and the wind blows spray from the waves as these photos attempt to show.

The Captain announces at noon that we are 55 nautical miles north of Auckland.  Tomorrow we will dock by 7:00 am with weather partly cloudy, possible rain and temps of 21.

Tomorrow (Monday) 533 guests will be leaving the ship along with 47 crew.  66 new crew members will be joining us.  There are 2,462 guests in transit.

The changes to arrival in Auckland caused problems for passengers embarking and disembarking.  Because of this, three days of free internet was given to assist passengers in changing and making new arrangements.  If there was an announcement clarifying this, all four of us missed it.  We discovered it when Wes and Carol found themselves locked out of their room, and went to Guest Services for assistance.  But this was on Monday, two days hence.  So we missed most of this time.  It was annoying.

In the morning Wes and Carol and I attend Extreme Nature with Kez.  Kex is Kerry Ann James, and she is connected in some way with shore excursions.  After dinner we three go to the theatre for the Pruincess World Orchestra which is supposed to be a musical journey around the world.  I think there is a difference between a band and an orchestra.  This seems more in the band category to me, and after three selections of not recognizing any of the music, I slip out.  Wes and Carol are not far behind me.  We have anticipated that not all of the theatre events will be to our liking, so try to arrive early and choose seats at the back and on the aisle to make exiting possible and unobtrusive.

The Captain ended his report today

signore, signora, arrivederci.
